YOUTH EVENTS FOR MAY/JUNE

  • May 26:  9 - 1 Car Wash at Tractor Supply in Warrenton.
Wear your red RUMC teeshirt. Rising 6th graders are welcome.
  • May 26:  3:30 to 9 pm:
Overcome county-wide event for youth at Oakshade Baptist Church.  Click here for registration form. You may complete the form and bring it with you to the event. Let Karen know if you're going and she will forward a head count. Hopefully there will be enough kids that more drivers will be needed. Parents are invited to stay and chaperone as well.
  • June 1:  7 p.m. to 7 am:  Kids want another lock-in at RUMC!
While there was an issue over some unexpected visitors at the last lock-in, our own kids are always well-behaved and should be allowed to enjoy a special event like this on occasion! So, we'd like to have a lock-in at RUMC to welcome rising 6th graders and celebrate summer, pending approval of a calendar date by the church. We'd also like to do elections at this lock-in if enough people are signed up. Permission forms and covenants are required for all participants. Sign-in and sign-out will also be required for all participants. Currently two adults have made a commitment to supervise, with a possibility of asking RUM Men to walk through in shifts (as suggested by Steve W.)

Beginning May 16, Band Practice will be held at 7:30 p.m. on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays of each month. In the interim, a band practice will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m., however, Wally and Kaye will be unavailable for practice on May 2.

4CANS 4CONFERENCE
Once again, the Virginia Conference has requested that ll churches attending Annual Conference bring 4CANS 4CONFERENCE. Please bring in at least one (1) of the following:  1 can of veggies and/or fruit; 1 can of meat or fish; 1 can of soup or sew; 1 can opened with a "Pop Top." More information to come.

MISSION TRIP - HAYSI, VA
The mission trip has been changed this year because the school where the team planned to stay is being used the same week. The team is now going to Ashville, NC the same week, 17 June to 23 June. There are currently eight people going from RUMC, joining Warrenton UMC, for a total of 23 people. If anyone is interested in going, please call Brian or Jennifer Rockefeller at 540.439.4832. There will be a car wash on 5 May from 10-2 at Tractor Supply to encourage donations. A free-will dinner will be held in the RUMC Fellowship Hall on 19 May from 5-8 pm. All are welcome!

RECYCLE PLASTIC BAGS
If you have plastic bags cluttering up your home (as most of us do) think about recycling them by giving them to the RUM Women. The Women's Group is working on a project which uses plastic bags. Thanks for helping us out!

SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR ALL AGES
Bring your children to our Sunday School classes!
There are four classes for children:  Preschool, Kindergarten - 2nd grade, 3rd - 5th grade and Youth. We also have a full adult Bible Study that goes on during the Sunday School program. Classes begin at 9:45 am with a brief snack, then head downstairs to classes. Both adult and children classes begin at 10 a.m. Call Jeanie Boggs at 540.439.9955 or email: jean_boggs@yahoo.com for more information if needed.

Sunday School Teachers Are Needed for All Grade Levels
The program is very easy to follow and gives you plenty of options from which to choose to do with the kids. We have Preschool 2-4, K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, and the Middle School/High School Group. If you are interested, please contact Jeanie Boggs at jean_boggs@yahoo.com or call 540.439.9955.
